Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park
Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi. You will drive towards Tsavo West National Park, one of the largest parks in Kenya. After arriving at your lodge or camp in time for lunch, you will relax before heading out for an evening game drive.
Tsavo West is known for its beautiful landscapes, volcanic hills, and natural springs. You will visit Mzima Springs, where clear water flows from underground streams and attracts animals like hippos and crocodiles. You may also see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and different bird species. The park also has Chaimu Crater and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, where you may see endangered rhinos. After the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park
You will wake up early for a morning game drive in Tsavo West. This is the best time to see animals when they are most active. After breakfast, you will drive to Amboseli National Park.
Amboseli is famous for its large herds of elephants and the clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. When the sky is clear, you will enjoy beautiful views of the snow-capped peak. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, you will go for another game drive across the open plains. The park has swamps, acacia trees, and dry lake beds that attract many animals and birds. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Full Day in Amboseli National Park
This day is spent exploring Amboseli National Park. You will have both morning and afternoon game drives with time to rest at the lodge in between.
Amboseli is home to elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and many antelope species. The open landscape makes it easy to see animals and take clear photographs. You may witness predators hunting or elephants moving in large family groups. Bird lovers can spot many species around the swamps and marshes. After a full day of wildlife viewing, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you will leave Amboseli and drive towards Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge.
In the afternoon, you may choose to take an optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha at an extra cost. The lake is freshwater and is home to hippos and many bird species. You may see African fish eagles catching fish, pelicans resting on the shore, cormorants, and African darters.
You may also choose to visit Crescent Island, where you can enjoy a guided nature walk among zebras, giraffes, and wildebeests. This is a unique experience because you walk close to animals in a safe environment. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. This park is located in the Great Rift Valley and is famous for its large number of flamingos.
You will arrive in time for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive. The lake often appears pink because of the many flamingos along the shore. Lake Nakuru is also home to rhinos, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, and many bird species. The park is one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos. After the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you will leave Lake Nakuru and drive through the beautiful Rift Valley landscape to Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a game drive in the reserve. Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s most famous wildlife destinations. It is known for its large number of animals and wide open plains. You may see lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, zebras, and many antelopes. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge or camp.
Day 7: Full Day in Maasai Mara National Reserve
This day is spent exploring Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. The reserve is the northern extension of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is especially famous for the Great Migration, when millions of wildebeests and zebras cross the plains in search of fresh grass.
Wildlife in Maasai Mara is abundant, and animals are easy to spot because of the open grasslands. The reserve is also rich in birdlife, with over 450 recorded species, including many birds of prey. This full day gives you enough time to explore different parts of the reserve and enjoy amazing wildlife encounters. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Maasai Mara to Nairobi
After breakfast, you will enjoy a final morning game drive as you exit the reserve. You will then drive back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your 8 Days Kenya Bush Safari and Birding Tour.
