New Rhino born at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

End of March 2019 came with good news for Rhino Fund Uganda as well as the entire tourism family in Uganda. Nandi, one of the rhinos at the sanctuary gave birth to a new calf bringing the total number of rhinos at the santuary now to 26!

According to Angie Genade, Executive Director of the Rhino Fund Uganda (RFU) and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the newly born rhino is second generation to be born at the sanctuary.

Rhinos were once roaming the plains of Uganda but went extinct in 1986 when the last one of them was killed. Later on, six rhinos were brought to Uganda from Disney Animal Kingdom, Florida in USA including Nandi, the mother of the latest addition in the sanctuary.
