If you wanted to claim to have done it all in Uganda on holiday, this is the best chance that you’re likely to have. This 15 days Uganda safari journey is an all-round exposition on just what the country has to offer, focusing on wildlife, culture, scenery, adventure, serenity, sounds and smells. You’ll be visiting the unique Batwa people not long after you’ve walked among the rare golden monkeys, be overloaded by the plentiful animals that roam the ground and the colourful ones that patrol the skies, get to see Murchison Falls from above and below, see rhinos and chimpanzees and above all else, have a time that you won’t be able to wait to tell your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, or anyone who’ll listen.

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Welcome to Uganda! On your arrival at Entebbe International airport you will be greeted by one of our team who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo and stop-over at the Equator

Journey to Lake Mburo National Park, located in Western Uganda. Stopover at the Equator and participate in a water experiment to see where the Southern and Northern hemispheres meet. Visit local craft shops before continuing to Lake Mburo for lunch.

Enjoy an afternoon boat cruise along the lake and gaze upon the wide variety of aquatic animals and birds that call its shores home.

Day3: Game drive and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation

Embark on a morning game drive and keep company with some of Uganda’s finest animals including zebras, giraffes and antelopes.

Take a drive to Lake Bunyonyi, known as the place of ‘many little birds’, in Western Uganda. Enjoy lunch before taking a swim, relaxing amidst truly remarkable surrounds or exploring with a private nature walk around the lake.

Day 4: Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla National park

Depart Lake Bunyonyi for Mgahinga National Park and it’s Batwa cultural experience. Embark on the Batwa Trail and discover the lives of the indigenous Batwa people.

Local guides lead the gentle 8km trail, demonstrating traditional methods along the way such as hunting, gathering honey, fire-making and fetching water. The trail culminates with a moving performance in Garama Cave, an important spiritual and cultural site for the Batwa.

Day 5: Golden monkey trekking Mgahinga National park

Trek through the bamboo forests in search of the rare golden monkeys, endemic to this region passing spectacular vegetation and scenery on your way.

An optional activity for the evening is the George walk or simply spend the afternoon enjoying the park’s beauty at leisure.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi

Journey into the stunning Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, famous for the rare Mountain Gorilla. During the drive bask in the park’s incredible scenery, passing through local villages and lush green countryside which characterise so much of South-Western Uganda.

One of the richest ecosystems in Africa, observe the richness of life abundant in the park. Marvel at over 120 mammals, 348 species of bird, 220 species of butterfly, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species, as well as over 1000 flowering plants.

Day 7: Gorilla experience

Track the rare Mountain Gorillas! After a briefing from an expert ranger, track these magnificent animals through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take two hours to the whole day depending on the location of the apes, so keep an eye out for buffalo, elephants, black fronted duikers and bush bucks.

A humbling experience, watch as man’s distant cousin eats, rests, plays and bond with their young.

Day 8: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park

Travel to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park for a two-night stay. Covering a massive 1978km², the park provides a magnificent view of the rift valley that occupies Lake Edward and George and is home to around 95 mammals and 612 bird species.

Day 9: Safari/Game drive and boat trip

Admire the richness wildlife found in the park on a morning game drive. Spot big cats such as lions and leopards, a variety of antelope, elephants, buffaloes and many tropical birds.

After lunch, take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel. Visit the local waterhole and watch the daily clamour of the animals that journey to drink or bathe. Expect to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo and a range of beautiful birds. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the tour.

Day 10: Game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest National park

Search Queen Elizabeth’s Ishasha sector for the extraordinary tree-climbing lions during a second game drive. An experienced ranger will help locate these wonderful animals, found nowhere else in Uganda.

In the afternoon, travel to Kibale Forest National Park, known as the capital of the primates.

Day 11: Chimpanzee trekking

Track chimpanzees in one of the most beautiful and varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. Home to 70 mammal species, including 13 primate species, and over 375 bird species, there is much to see along the way.

Once located, spend a full hour witnessing chimps in their natural environment –  an experience that is not to be missed.

 Day 12: Bird watching and drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Visit Bigodi wetlands for fantastic bird-watching opportunities. Spot a variety of different species with the help of an expert guide.

Depart for Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park. Pass through small villages along the way, interact with local people and see the area’s tea plantations.

Experience the uniqueness of the park through it’s rich diversity of wildlife. Enjoy views of elephants, antelope, giraffes, hyenas, lions, buffalo and much more.

 Day 13: Game Safari & boat trip.

Come eye-to-eye with the animal kingdom’s most impressive creatures. Take a game drive and catch sight of lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and a vast number of tropical birds.

In the afternoon, take a boat trip towards the bottom Murchison Falls on the Victoria Nile. Spot hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, water bird, and much more.

Day 14: Visit Top of the falls and drive to Masindi.

Hike to the top, or visit Murchison Falls before travelling to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. In the company of an experienced ranger, take a game walk in search for the White Rhino.

Lunch and travel back to Kampala.

Visa requirements for Uganda

With effect from July 1, 2015, visa fees for entry into Uganda were revised as follows:

Please note:

All visa applications must be submitted online. Paper applications will not be processed and may result in delays.

Visa applications for holders of passports:

  1. Submit an online application here.
  2. Your passport must have been valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel and for 6 months after your expected departure from Uganda.
  3. You will need to submit a money order for the correct visa from the list above.
  4. You will need to submit a letter of invitation/introduction if you are travelling for business.
  5. You are required to present an international inoculation certificate against yellow fever at the point of entry in Uganda.
  6. Please enclose a prepaid, self-addressed UPS, FEDEX, DHL,USPS Priority or Express return envelope with your application. Regular envelopes are not accepted.

Visa applications for holders of travel documents

Holders of travel documents (not passports) issued by the U.S. Immigration Department to refugees are required to submit the following in addition to the above requirements.

  1. An invitation from the host legally residing in Uganda.
  2. A letter obtained by the host from the local authorities (e.g. Local Council Chairman) confirming he/she resides in that locality.
  3. A copy of the host’s photo ID such as a drivers licence, national ID card or passport.
