14 Days Rwanda Uganda adventure tour

Day 1 : Arrival in Kigali

On arrival at Kigali international airport, our representative will meet you. He’ll then introduce you to your driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Kigali where you will have a late dinner.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive to the largest montane forest of East and Central Africa. You go southwest where Nyungwe Forest is found. Tall old mahoganies, ebonies and giant tree ferns tower above whilst brightly colored birds flit around; butterflies are everywhere and a variety of primates can also be found. You make a stop to visit to the Rwanda National Museum and later proceed to Nyungwe to check in at your lodge.

Day 3: Canopy Walk and transfer to Gisenyi

At 8:00 am you’ll be transferred to Uwinka RDB park offices for the Canopy walk briefing. The walkway is embedded in a guided tour along Igishigishigi trail. On this tour, a park guide will not show you the forest canopy and explain why it is an integral part of the tropical rainforest ecosystem in the region.

Later you transfer to the lodge, have lunch and proceed to Gisenyi via Kibuye. The Lodge is on the shores of Lake Kivu, among the most picturesque in Africa. Then enjoy a drive to Gisenyi with stopovers for photos.

Day 4: Kayaking and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

The day begins with either paddling or kayaking on the lake, which normally last for up to two hours. Paddling out onto Lake Kivu you will discover a few interesting sights – including the hot springs, fish farms and many species of birds. After this we will transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Begin with a visit to “Ibyi Iwacu”cultural Village. This former-poachers project aims to change traditional perceptions of what constitutes tourism by sharing aspects of rural cultures and tourist attractions to create income-generating activities for local people. The village provides experiences beyond wildlife viewing, the people, culture and how they live.

14 Days Rwanda Uganda adventure tourDay 5: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park

Today begins with a 6:00 am drive to the Golden monkey tracking briefing. You start the walk at 8:00 am. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkeys and treks to see them take place in the mornings and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys. Later you transfer to the Rwanda-Uganda border for Customs and Immigration, and across to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. On arrival you will check in at your lodge to stay overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla tracking and afternoon relaxation

Today, breakfast will be served at 6:00am in order to make time for the Gorilla trek briefing at the park headquarters; thereafter, head for the thick jungles of Bwindi in search for the gorillas. The trek lasts from 4 to 8 hours, depending on which family of gorillas you’re allocated. A maximum of an hour with the Gorillas is permitted. Trek back down to the park headquarters for your certificates of participation.

Day 7: Kayaking and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

We transfer to Ishasha sector to spot the tree climbing lions by proceeding to Queen Elizabeth National Park in south western Uganda. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge for dinner.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

After breakfast we’ll head to a game drive in search of wild animals like elephants, baboons, topi and a number of bird species. From the game drive, you head for an afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga channel which has the highest number of hippopotamus in east Africa. Other animals that can be viewed along the Kazinga channel include crocodiles and elephants.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

Today you will transfer to Kibale national park with a lunch break in Kasese Town. On arrival you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha

After an early start, we drive to Kanyanchu park headquarters in Kibale Forest National Park where you will be allocated a guide before the chimpanzee tracking. Kibale Forest National Park is called the primate capital of East Africa. Lunch will be served in the wild, amidst the sights and sounds of the forest. After tracking, you return to the park headquarters, relax a bit and head to the Bigodi wetlands for birding and / or a visit to the Bigodi community.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast transfer to Murchison falls National Park. On arrival you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Game drive and boat launch on the Albert Nile

Murchison Falls National Park is at the north of the Albertine Rift Valley. It is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 birds. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which creates a mighty cascade that drains the last of the river’s energy, transforming it into a  placid stream. Regular visitors to the riverbanks include elephants, giraffes and buffaloes; while hippos, Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents.

Day 13: Transfer to Kampala visiting local communities. Afternoon /evening to relaxation.

On this day, you travel to Kampala through local communities and on arrival you will check at your hotel with the rest of the afternoon and evening to relax.

Day 14: Transfer to Kigali International Airport.

Today depending on your flight time you will be transferred to Kigali international airport for your flight back home.

Passenger information:

❭❭ Passengers should bring only soft-sided bags on safaris for ease of storage in vehicle during travel and to avoid damage.
❭❭ All the passengers must have Identification Documents / Passport with them throughout the tour.
❭❭ Travel Insurance (highly recommended).

Visa requirements for Uganda

With effect from July 1, 2015, visa fees for entry into Uganda were revised as follows:

Please note:

All visa applications must be submitted online. Paper applications will not be processed and may result in delays.

Visa applications for holders of passports:

  1. Submit an online application here.
  2. Your passport must have been valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel and for 6 months after your expected departure from Uganda.
  3. You will need to submit a money order for the correct visa from the list above.
  4. You will need to submit a letter of invitation/introduction if you are travelling for business.
  5. You are required to present an international inoculation certificate against yellow fever at the point of entry in Uganda.
  6. Please enclose a prepaid, self-addressed UPS, FEDEX, DHL,USPS Priority or Express return envelope with your application. Regular envelopes are not accepted.

Visa applications for holders of travel documents

Holders of travel documents (not passports) issued by the U.S. Immigration Department to refugees are required to submit the following in addition to the above requirements.

  1. An invitation from the host legally residing in Uganda.
  2. A letter obtained by the host from the local authorities (e.g. Local Council Chairman) confirming he/she resides in that locality.
  3. A copy of the host’s photo ID such as a drivers licence, national ID card or passport.
