On 24th February 2026, the 5th edition of the Tusker Lite Mt.Rwenzori Marathon was launched at Sheraton Hotel Kampala. The event was graced by various industry stakeholders and officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Uganda Communications Commission among others. The marathon is an annual road running event held in Uganda. It is traditionally held in Kasese district, in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. The inaugural race was held in 2022 in the same district of Kasese.

This year,2026, the Rwenzori Marathon has earned official certification from World Athletics, and is now a World Athletics label road race and is officially on the World Athletics calendar for 2026.

The marathon is not only a competitive race,the event also promotes healthy living, community engagement, and most importantly, boosts the local tourism industry.

The Tusker Lite Mt.Rwenzori Marathon attracts international visitors, raising the profile of the Rwenzori region as a travel destination. Tourism excursions are usually part of the Marathon, given that Kasese is a district in which two national parks are situated, Rwenzori Mountain National Park as well as Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is slated for 22 August 2026 in its traditional district Kasese.
