Uganda is a country in central-east Africa with a population of around 43 million and a size roughly similar to that of the United Kingdom.
You will hear Uganda often referred to as ‘the pearl of Africa’. This is a quote attributed to Winston Churchill, taken from his 1908 book “My African Journey”, within which he writes, ‘For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa.”’
