About This Tour
This is the shortest itinerary that still gives Rwanda's headline experiences room to breathe. You land in Kigali and settle in, then spend a morning at the Genocide Memorial Centre, whose quiet gardens and unflinching exhibitions give essential context for everything that follows. The drive north climbs through terraced hillsides and eucalyptus stands to Musanze, where the Virunga volcanoes fill the skyline. The centrepiece comes at dawn: a briefing at park headquarters, then a hike into bamboo and Hagenia forest behind trackers who have been with the family since first light. Depending on where the gorillas have moved, the walk takes anywhere from two to six hours — and the hour you spend with them, watching a silverback hold court while infants wrestle in the undergrowth, is the part nobody forgets. The afternoon turns to a cultural encounter with the communities living alongside the park. On the final morning you track golden monkeys, a lighter and more playful trek through the bamboo zone, before the road back to Kigali and your onward flight.
